Le Mal Nécessaire

After ten remarkable years on Saint-Laurent Boulevard, Le Mal Nécessaire has moved to Montréal’s International District, between Square Victoria and the Palais des congrès, on Saint-Alexandre Street.

Recognized as one of the best bars of 2024 by Tastet, a leading Québec guide for curated culinary experiences, this iconic venue stands out for its vibrant atmosphere and refined cocktail program, featuring over twenty tropical-inspired creations.

In a context where both the complexity and volume of cocktails are high, the bar needed to meet precise requirements in terms of efficiency and fluidity.

Developed with the support of Angelik, the layout was entirely designed to sustain a fast-paced operational rhythm while providing an ergonomic and well-structured workspace.

The project was carried out in close collaboration with the bar team, including the head bartender, to create a space perfectly aligned with real operational needs.

Every element of the bar was carefully considered to optimize workflow, facilitate movement, and ensure fast and consistent execution, even during peak periods.

The integration of a technical wall centralizes all essential services, including plumbing, electrical, service lines, and network infrastructure, while ensuring a clean, durable, and easy-to-maintain installation. The modules were designed with sealed construction to limit residue buildup, while also incorporating strategic access points to facilitate future interventions.

Stainless steel cocktail stations, developed with Angelik, complete the space, providing durability, precision, and efficiency.

Each component was selected and positioned with long-term performance and durability in mind. The result is a reliable, optimized workspace fully aligned with the complexity of Le Mal Nécessaire’s offering.

This project is part of a long-standing relationship built on trust. It represents another collaboration with this team, reflecting a strong and evolving partnership.

We would like to warmly thank the entire Le Mal Nécessaire team for their continued trust, as well as Atelier du Chef for their valuable collaboration on this project.
